Jelena Likušić, cello, was born in Belgrade, where she discovered the cello at the age of eleven in the Junior Music School “Stanislav Binički” in the class of Prof. Svetlana Rajnović.Ljubomir Polojca, and then the Faculty of Music in Belgrade in the class of prof. Viktor Jakovčić, where she graduated in 1997. After her first steps in the chamber orchestra “Jeunesses Musicales” and the Belgrade Youth Philharmonic “Borislav Pašćan”, she works in the Belgrade Philharmonic and the symphony orchestra of the Radio Television of Serbia “RTS”, where in 1998 she got a permanent position. In the same year, he went to Germany to the Detmold College of Music, Dortmund Department for artistic training in the class of prof. Gotthard Poppa where she graduated in April 2001. This is followed by Instrumental Pedagogy, with mentor Mechthild Van der Linde, from which she graduated in July 2004 after transferring to the Robert Schumann College of Music in Dusseldorf.
Participating in various projects and ensembles, mainly chamber music, in 2010 he founded the string quartet “Les Sirènes” with Freya Deiting, Dagmara Daniel and Christine Hanl, within the “capital of Ruhr culture” with jazz legend Dennis Rowland/USA and the “East West European Jazz Orchestra”.
The quartet continues to develop in various genres, which is reflected in the discography from 2012 “A time for us” and 2015 “Hommage aux Beatles” with the Czech pianist, prof. Milan Svoboda. After several shorter European tours, the quartet presents a diverse program “Baundles” in China in 2018, named after the composition of Novosadyanka A. Vrebalov.
Jelena’s teaching activity in Germany included students of different ages, ambitions and achievements. Her education and experience opened the doors of many smaller and larger city music schools in Wetter, Hamm, Dortmund and “Clara Schumann” in Dusseldorf.
