Regulations 2024

Article 1

The participation is open to full and part-time students of primary and secondary music schools, Music Academies and related institutions from the country and abroad.

Article 2

The organizer of the competition is Music Association “Muzicki Atelje” from Novi Sad.

Article 3

The Competition is held from 19 till 30. April 2024 in Sremski Karlovci and Novi Sad.

Article 4

The competition is public, and the programme is performed by heart.

 

CATEGORIES – VIOLIN

Article 5

Subcategory A (candidates born in 2017 and younger)

  • Competitors perform the programme of their choice for a total duration of up to 10 min.

Subcategory B (candidates born in 2015 and 2016 and younger)

  • Competitors perform the programme of their choice for a total duration of up to 10 min.

Category I (candidates born in 2014)

  • Competitors perform the programme of their choice for a total duration of up to 10 min.

Category II (candidates born in 2013)

  • Competitors perform the programme of their choice for a total duration of up to 10 min.

Category III (candidates born in 2012)

  • Competitors perform I or II and III movement of the concert and a program of their choice for a total duration of up to 14 min.

Category IV (candidates born in 2011)

  • Competitors perform I or II and III movement of the concert and a program of their choice for a total duration of up to 14 min.

Category V (candidates born in 2010)

  • Competitors perform I or II and III movement of the concert and a program of their choice for a total duration of up to 18 min.

Category VI (candidates born in 2009)

  • Competitors perform I or II and III movement of the concert and a program of their choice for a total duration of up to 18 min.

Category VII (candidates born in 2008)

  • Competitors perform I or II and III movement of the concert and a program of their choice for a total duration of up to 20 min.

Category VIII (candidates born in 2007)

  • Competitors perform I or II and III movement of the concert and a program of their choice for a total duration of up to 22 min.

Category IX (candidates born in 2006)

  • Competitors perform one movement from a solo Partita or sonata by J.S.Bach, I or II and III movements of a concert, a piece of their choice for a total duration of up to 24 min.

Category X (candidates born in 2005)

  • Competitors perform one movement from a solo Partita or sonata by J.S.Bach, I or II and III movements of a concert, a piece of their choice for a total duration of up to 26 min.

Category XI (candidates born in 2003 and 2004)

  • The contestants perform the program for a total duration of up to 30 minutes
  • First stage – Competitors perform:
  • Capris of your choice
  • Piece of your choice
  • Second stage – Competitors perform:
  • One movement from a solo sonata or partita by J.S. Bach
  • Concert I or II – III movement

Category XII (candidates born in 2000, 2001, and 2002)

  • The contestants perform the program for a total duration of up to 30 minutes
  • First stage – Competitors perform:
  • Capris of your choice
  • Piece of your choice
  • Second stage – Competitors perform:
  • Two movements from a solo sonata or partita by J.S. Bach
  • Concert I or II – III movement

Category XIII (candidates born from 1994 and younger)

  • The contestants perform the program for a total duration of up to 40 minutes
  • First stage – Competitors perform:
  • Capris of your choice
  • Two movements from a solo sonata or chaconne by J.S. Bach
  • Sonata – the period from Beethoven to the 21st century
  • Second stage – Competitors perform:
  • Piece of your choice
  • Concert I or II – III movement

 

CATEGORIES – VIOLA

Article 6

Category I (candidates born in 2011 and younger)

  • Competitors perform two compositions of their choice for a total duration of up to 12 min.

Category II (candidates born in 2009 and younger)

  • Competitors perform two compositions of their choice for a total duration of up to 15 min

Concert (I movement or II-III movement; or two movements of the Telemann concert)

  • Piece of your choice

Category III (candidates born in 2006 and younger)

  • Competitors perform two compositions of their choice for a total duration of up to 20 min
  • Etude or Caprice (optional)
  • Concert (I movement with cadenza or II-III movement; or two movements of the Telemann concerto) / complete Baroque sonata / Sonata (classicism and beyond) – 1st movement
  • Piece of your choice
  • Note: Sonata form can be played from sheet music

Category IV (candidates born in 2005 and younger)

  • Competitors perform two compositions of their choice for a total duration of up to 25 min
  • Hoffmeister etude or Campagnoli caprice op. 22 (optional)
  • Concerto (I movement with cadenza or II-III movement) Sonata form (from classicism onwards) – 1st movement
  • Composition of your choice
  • Note: Sonata form can be played from sheet music

Category V (candidates born in 2003 and younger)

  • Competitors perform two compositions of their choice for a total duration of up to 30 min
  • First stage – Competitors perform:
  • Etude or Caprice (by choice) by the following composers: L. Fuchs, J. Palaschko, B. Campagnoli, F. A. Hoffmeister, N. Paganini, M. Anzoletti
  • Piece of your choice
  • Second stage – Competitors perform:
  • S.Bach – two movements of different character from a solo Suite, Partita or Sonata
  • Concerto (from classicism onwards), 1st movement with cadenza

Category VI (candidates born in 2001 and younger)

  • Competitors perform two compositions of their choice for a total duration of up to 30 min
  • First stage – Competitors perform:
  • Etude or Caprice (by choice) by the following composers: Lillian Fuchs, J. Palaschko, B. Campagnoli, F.A. Hoffmeister, N. Paganini, M. Anzoletti
  • Piece of your choice
  • Second stage – Competitors perform:
  • XX century concerto, 1st movement with cadenza
  • Sonata (from Romanticism onwards): 1st movement or if Schumann is a “Marchenbilder”, 1st and 2nd movements
  • Note: Sonata form can be played from sheet music

Category VII (candidates born in 1994 and younger)

  • Competitors perform two compositions of their choice for a total duration of up to 40 min
  • First stage – Competitors perform:
  • Vieuxtemps: Capriccio for solo viola
  • Piece of your choice
  • Second stage – Competitors perform:
  • Hoffmeister or Stamitz concerto – 1, movement with cadenza
  • Sonata (from Romanticism onwards): 1st movement or if Schumann is a “Marchenbilder”, 1st and 2nd movements
  • Concert XX century (I movement or II and III movement)
  • Note: Sonata form can be played from sheet music.

 

APPLYING FOR THE COMPETITION

Article 7

The application for the participation in the International Gathering of Violinists are submitted electronically by mail int.gatheringofviolinists@gmail.com, or over application form on  http://internationalgatheringofviolinists.org

Article 8

The participation fee For International Gathering Of Violinists for

  • Subcategory A and B and Category I, II and III is 4000.00 RSD  (For foreign citizens, it is 40 EUR).
  • Category IV, V, VI is 4,500,00 RSD ( (For foreign citizens, it is 45 EUR).
  • Category VII, VIII, IX, X is 5,000,00 RSD ( (For foreign citizens, it is 50 EUR).
  • Category XI,XII is 5,500,00 RSD ( (For foreign citizens, it is 55 EUR).
  • Category XIII is 6,000,00 RSD ( (For foreign citizens, it is 60 EUR).

Candidates from abroad – for payment of the registration fee for participation in the “International Meetings of Violinists – Violists” receive instructions for payment (to the Bank’s business account) exclusively via email: int.gatheringofviolinists@gmail.com

Article 9

Together with the application the candidates should provide: a birth certificate, proof of payment of the participation fee, and the completed application form.

Article 10

The Deadline of the application submission is by 01. April 2024.

Article 11

The competition participants are responsible for their own expenses of travel and accommodation in Novi Sad.

Article 12

In case of cancellation of participation by the candidate – competitor, the participation fee is not refundable.

 

ACCOMPANIMENT

Every performer has the right to request an official accompanist. Information regarding accompaniment can be obtained exclusively via email: korepetitorsusreti@gmail.com, as well as by phone – number: 060-521-82-18 – Boris Jekić, piano professor, official accompanist (www.borisjekic.com)

Submitting music sheets is by April 1, 2024 to the email: korepetitorsusreti@gmail.com

WORK OF THE JURY

Article 13

The competitors are evaluated by a jury composed of renowned violin educators from country and abroad. The members of the jury are nominated by the organizer of the competition.

Article 14

The jury has the right to interrupt a competitor who exceeds the time limit and to evaluate him based on the performed program up to the moment of interruption.

Article 15

The Jury’s decision is final and irrevocable.

Article 16

The first ranked pupil in each category, starting from the Subcategory A and B to the Category VI, receives a special award “Ružica Kovač”.

Article 17

Jury members can announce laureates by unanimous decision. The title of laureate can be taken by the participant with the maximum number of points in the categories: from pre-category A and B to VI; VII to X and from XI-XIII category.

EVALUATION OF COMPETITORS

Article 18

By decision of the jury, the “Maestro Sreten Krstić” award is awarded to the most promising violinist of the 2024 Competition.

Article 19

By the decision of the jury, the award “Prof. Robert Lakatoš” is awarded to the violinist of the 2024 Competition for the most successfully performed work by the composers P. Sarasate and H. Vijenjavski.

Article 20

The number of awards that can be given by the jury in each category is not limited.

Article 21

The scoring of performers is done by adding points from the score lists and calculating the average score. The number of points needed for the adequate award (prize) is the following:

  • First Prize: 95-100 points
  • Second prize: 85 – 94.99 points
  • Third prize: 75 – 84.99 points
  • Acknowledgement: 65 – 74.99 points
